One of Candace Breed’s favorite destinations is the Point Reyes National Seashore in California, which offers spectacular views of the ocean. Point Reyes is one of 10 national seashores managed by the National Parks System. Located in Marin County, the seashore hosts more than two million visitors per year who come to the area for hiking, camping, and bird watching. Every visitor is treated to spectacular views and an opportunity to see a wide array of birds, native plants, and animals. More than 150 miles of trails wind through the Point Reyes National Seashore. Hikers of all ability levels can wander trails that range in length and difficulty. Earthquake Trail, one of the easier trails, is less than a mile long and explores the San Andreas Fault Zone. Chimney Rock Trail, at 1.6 miles, features gorgeous views of Drakes Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Occasionally, hikers are able to catch a glimpse of migrating whales. For more experienced hikers, the five-mile Mt. Wittenberg Loop requires steep climbs to the highest point in the park where they can see views of the seashore and Olema Valley. |
